Cartoons

John Cole, a political cartoonist for the Times-Tribune in Scranton, PA criticizes Rick Perry's campaign in this cartoon.  He plays on Perry's religious platform by depicting Perry as Jesus, "walking on water" while being supported by lower and middle class citizens.  Cole uses text to help support his image and clarify the point that he is making.  Cole's cartoon is significant in the race for the Republican nomination that is going on today.
Dave Granlund also depicts Rick Perry in his political cartoon, using imagery and text to fuel the idea that Perry is the "second coming" of George W. Bush. In this single frame cartoon, Granlund depicts Perry holding a photo of Bush (they are dressed the same), standing in the desert (Texas) and saying "prepare for the second coming," a play on both his strong religious beliefs and his similarities to the former President.
